Wedding gifts: Great gift ideas for the groom

by Meg Jack

Created on: July 05, 2008

It's been hard to decide what to get my groom for a wedding gift. I don't want to give him something that he can get just any day. After all, by the end of our wedding day, what can I possibly give him that will make the day more special than it already is? After all, we're already getting each other! I have finally decided, though, to suprise him by directing him to a hotel room in a honeymoon suite. While we're driving away from our reception in our "Just Married" car, I will say, "Suprise!" and tell him we aren't going home, but to follow my directions instead. My directions will lead him to a hotel rather than back to our apartment.

I think this will be a nice and welcome surprise as he thinks we're coming back to our apartment to stay until we leave for our honeymoon the next day. Who wants to go back to their apartment on their wedding night? What a let down after a wedding! I've been planning otherwise! I'll have my mom take my key so she can feed our cat and pick up our dog to keep him for the week. I'll have someone bring our luggage to the hotel room... but that's not the real gift. I also want to have something that he can have to hold on to for the rest of his life, something that he can see daily, and something that won't cost me a fortune!

I saw in a bridal magazine that Tom Cruise gave Katie Holmes this picture from www.sticksandstones.com that says tom & katie in a frame using letters from architecture and nature. They're very expensive- so I've decided to do it myself- using my future name. In our hotel room that night will be a framed work of art with my married last name, Jackson. What could be more special than the reminder that I am now his wife? That we share the same name?

I am going to go around to special places, such as where we met, and find the letters, "J", "A", "C", etc. Then I will have them all printed in black and white and framed in a nice black frame. When he sees how much work I have put into this, I think he will nearly be brought to tears.

I think this will have a lot of sentimental value. I hope that this will be a reminder to him of our wedding day every time he looks at it. It is something that can hang on the wall of our home for the rest of our lives! The nice thing about it is that it won't cost me a fortune!

The important thing to keep in mind when choosing a wedding gift for your groom is that it doesn't have to be something insanely expensive, just something meaningful, and something that will remind him of the day that the two of you became husband and wife.
