Downloadable game reviews: Dangerous Girls in Trouble

Dangerous Girls in Trouble by Mousechief is in trouble itself. I liked the start and the music, it was like something out of the 1920's, but that was the high point of the game. It is a board game designed to be played on the computer that could use some real improvement, or may should have been left on the boards. I had to work to finish out the trail period, but played the whole 60 minutes. I would rate it 1 out of 5! Do you really want to know more about it? If so, read on.

Playing the game is simple, there are instructions but not that many, and not really needed. One first starts by choosing a character from what resembles a deck of cards; there is a decent selection to choose from, but the sketches aren't going to impress anyone and the descriptions meaningless until you've played at least once, even then there seems little difference. Now enter into the Daniel Gerald Ross High School to find associates (note: not friends, these girls don't seem to have friends) to help you investigate what is causing a series of accidents that is plaguing the campus. This plot is weak but not bad and, after the music, is the next high point of the trial. To choose associates and do your investigation, one trades insults (poor ones at that), plays poker or guesses missing words (that are very obvious) to determine what the other person is really saying. The girls also insult teachers when not taunting each other. Is this what the developers of this game really think High School girls do? I have worked with numerous schools around the world, none were like this.

As for the graphics, it is mainly sketches of various rooms in the school, the designers also include descriptions at the bottom! Then there are player cards and printed insults that roll across the screen, nothing very amazing. Aside from the pointer, nothing on the screen moves except for a slight wiggling of some of the game pieces, mainly the hat. The game pieces look similar to ones found in Monopoly.

The starting music is best thing positive about this game. The melody, as previously stated, is nice, reminiscent of Jazz from the Roaring 20's; which is a nice change for computer games. Then it continues on throughout the game as a pleasant under tone; this game needs something pleasant! Unfortunately the music isn't enough to boost the weak plot and poor graphics. However, it was the most innovative as well as creative thing about this game.

To paraphrase an often used saying "Nothing is totally useless; anything can serve as a bad example." Would I buy this game after the trial (and they try to entice you with hints of "adult activities behind close doors" at the end of the trial)? Possibly, if I was old, senile, and couldn't buy anything else! Sorry, this game is just not for me (or anyone that I know)!
