Poetry: Love gone wrong

by Evelyn G Ward

Created on: July 04, 2008

Another new start. Where?
Not that I care
I've been here before,
another new door.
In a street just like this,
living in blighted bliss.

You want to change course?
Well it's your life
I'm only your wife
and if our world isn't right,
we'll sleep on it another night.

You're leaving. Why?
Need your own space
out of the rat race
at a more placid pace.
Just a trial separation
to ease the stagnation.

So you want a divorce?
using emotional brute force,
par for the course
you're forty-three
bored with me,
why is it my resposibility?

You want to come home?
Sorry, contrite and regretting
you sit there fretting
brushing aside the hurtful day
you threw our marriage away,
past is over you say, live for today.

What do I think?
You should drop dead
and rot, after the things you said
I've got a new life too
no place in the things I do
so I think, good riddence to you.
