Poetry: The muse

My Muse

It keeps talking
Keeps repeating
Until I write it
I can't wait too long
The words will go away
I don't want to lose it
But how could I?
It gets louder
It gets faster
It never shuts up
I write it
And more words come
More repeating
More words to write
God forbid
If I get inspiration
That fast talking son of a gun
It just gets even faster
If I ignore
It just gets louder
If I write it
More words will come
If I wait too long
The words scroll even faster
Can I get a break?
Can I take a rest?
Can it slow down?
Can it get quiet
For just a moment?
But when I write
When I'm good and ready to write
It's silent
Not a word
Not a peep
A blank screen
Nothing from my muse
As soon as I get up
It starts talking again
It starts scrolling fast
I don't have a pen
I don't have paper
But it's just a scrollin'
By the time I get back
It stops
And I have forgotten
The words by my muse
