The Lake Tree
In a prarie by the lake
Stands a mighty maple tree
There are oh, so many leaves
On its branches blowing free
But when the air gets colder
And the summer turns to fall
The leaves let loose and dance down
The big leaves and the small
And then the tree stands naked
Never losing majesty
The squirrel's twiggy castle
Is exposed for me to see
I am heartened when I watch
The squirrel's frenetic climb
For I think he's company
To my tree in wintertime
Calendar turns to April
Bitty buds begin to bloom
from Mother Nature's twiggy
and leafy woodsy womb.
When May's gentle breezes blow
the leaves on my lovely tree
An aria echos the prairie
I pretend it's meant for me.
Still I know when I am gone
my tree will yet be here
standing majestic in naked splendor
or draped in green, a personified prayer.
For who will ever know a prayer
more truthful than a tree?

The Willow Tree
There beneath the Willow tree,
when the sun is striking three.
I'll tie the Celtic Knot with thee,
our two hearts
Tree of life,
Vision of you is clear even as I close my eyes
Your branches reach up high
While you stand alone
Welcoming always
