Poetry: Inner struggles

A time of hypnotic illusion

Scattered thoughts filled, with fearful delusion
Timeless debate of frantic confusion
This is my time of hypnotic illusion

I once was a boy with a spirit so free
Wonderful thoughts of grander I see
Ever so simple was life
It rang in my ear without strife
Many a year has gone by
How things change I sigh
When in times long past humans fought for there fare
I wonder was hypnotic illusion as rare

When I think of the days of creation
Did thoughts reflect on damnation?
One needs to eat to survive
Only nourishment of body, won't keep us alive
As humans we also need others
We need mothers and fathers and sisters and brothers
Without intellectualized, passionate things
Surly we'll parish to those our life clings
Emotion, relationships, companionship, all
Controlled by intellectual force we thrall

This is my hypnotic illusion

From childhood birth we are meant to be free
Tibet to East China Sea on Yangtze
Lives lived on bread, as we seek to strive
No love, lust or commotion, lost internal drive
Vulgar profanity of which we discharge
Those unwanted images will cause hearts to enlarge
Perplexing, unmanageable thoughts I concede
However unwilling to see what I need
I will not allow restitution

For my unwelcome hypnotic illusion
