FINALLY! A MOVIE FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!
This is supposed to be a family movie, but I chuckle to myself as I sneak in as silently as possible. The kids with parents look at me like I am an interloper, because I have no baggage, no child along with me to view the movie. The fact is, I came to enjoy the movie alone. The fact is, I'm a kid at heart and I enjoy cartoons. The fact is, I LOVE Pixar movies!
A LITTLE ABOUT THE MOVIE:
WALL-E is set in the year 2700 and Wall-e is a robot. He is endearing, to say the least. Your heart will melt from the very start. The movie begins when you see earth looking like a junkyard. A large pile of filth, with oceans and oceans of garbage as far as the eye can see, and here is little Wall-E, humming away, and boxing it all up, once in awhile, he will find an old toy, a Rubik's cube, or a spork, and throw it in a file cabinet sort of drawer he has in his chest for safe keeping.
Wall-E, it is obvious, is made for picking up junk. He takes some of the junk back to his "home", which he shares with a pet cockroach. He watches an old movie on a tv and he sees them hold hands. He is mesmerized. We can't help but fall in love with Wall-E, he is so endearing.
Then we meet Eva. She is a robot extra terrestrial, in search of plant life. Wall-E falls in love at first sight! He finds out her name is Eve. "EVA" he says in reverence. One of the items that Wall-E has found and taken home has been a small plant. Eva grabs it and immediately shuts down. Wall-E is devastated. He has fallen for Eva hook, line and sinker. When the spaceship comes to take Eva back home, he latches onto the spaceship and goes back with her.
Laughs abound as Wall-E tries to rescue Eva and in the end saves the day and not only rescues Eva but also saves the planet Earth. The entire show is not only wonderfully enchanting for both old and young, but it also teaches children about the environment and about the importance of recycling. The movie has strong environmental education impact. I have a few friends who have said they were insulted by this, but I find it quite the opposite. I feel Pixar did a fine job on the movie and I hope that we see more of Wall-E in the future!
MORE MOVIE INFO:
The movie was directed by Andrew Stanton, Produced by Jim Morris, Lindsey Collins and John Lassetter. With Ben Burtt as M-O & Wall-E, Elissa Knight as Eve, Jeff Garlin as the Captain.
This movie, even though it is a children's movie, is bound to win all kinds of awards. It is wonderfully animated, and the graphics are wonderful.
