Humor & Laughter

Would a humorous approach to life make a difference?

Yes humor would make a difference. They say laughter is the best medicine. Best Medicine for what? EVERYTHING.
I was at a cancer hospital not too long ago. I would walk the halls and see the younger kids as well as the older adults, although humor could not change the diagnosis of their disease, it certainly can change the outlook on their future. I would watch a younger boy, bald, in a wheel chair, smile like nothing's wrong when he is confronted with humor. It didn't end there though; when his parents saw him smile they started to smile. When I saw the family smile, I had a little smile at them as well. Is humor contagious? I appeared to be that day. Seem like one boy's misfortune made a difference too many people that day in the hospital.
I am what one would call sarcastic, and humorous. I enjoy doing it, because I get to see people laugh, I get to see people have fun. Most of all I get to see people smile. I take great pride in my jokes and actions if I can get people to smile.
I work as a Truck Driver for a moving Company, statistics say moving is one of the most stressful things a person can do. I have and will continue to use me humor to relieve stress from my customers. I have had tips, comments, and good reviews because of my humor. One of my best lines at work is "We have to carry this back in because we missed a wall". Believe it or not this line seems to work. Most cases if we touched the wall it doesn't leave a mark. What this comment just is relieve the stress of the customer. How does it relieve the stress of the customer? Usually when we show up to do the move, the customer is so stressed out, this little joke makes them laugh and that relieves their stress. So once again that made a difference.
I also referee hockey. I have been on the ice for some pretty serious games. I have been yelled at many times. I know that my humor makes a difference in the games that I referee because I watch the coach laugh sometimes at the comments I give back. The simple "Coach, I went to the eye doctor yesterday and he says I can see" works wonders. Sometimes when I'm skating past and the coach yells at me for something, a simple "We'll go upstairs after the game" brings a smile. Once the smile is there we are good. Things are always better when we can get some else to smile.
So after these short stories, I think that humor does, and humor will always make a difference to people's enjoyment, people's sports, but most of all people's lives.
