Poetry: Facing life

Aspirations

Aspirations built from birth
Some of the truths we must unearth
We admire things with much distant thought
We sway and squirm through things were taught

We feel the sense of woe and remorse
As we watch others stay there course
We ponder change and fight demise
We want to brighten someone's eyes

With what we know From whence we came
We live and learn and seek our fame

We note the way we want to be
But time is slow and so are we

Although we often
Think were lost
We stand up tall
And bear our cross

And when the past becomes a still
The future opens and then we will
