"Familiarity breeds contempt - and children". Mark Twain

If these adult oriented cartoons are shown on Saturday mornings then they should not be shown on TV. Otherwise not only should they be shown on the tube but they should be required viewing by anyone turning 18 - Christians, Muslims, Jews and fans of The View.

It should be made crystal clear, I never watch cartoons. I really haven't since I was a kid. Television had barely been invented then but I managed to watch it by torch light. We had to train our cats to walk around in a wheel in order to get power for the thing.

Adult oriented cartoons sound like a marvelous idea. Maybe Wile E. Coyote will actually be able to express himself more fully. Are those rated "R" cartoons? If so then all of us who thought Betty Rubble was hot could have more to look forward to.

Oh, not that I ever felt Betty Rubble was hot, some of my freaky and weirdo friends did, but not me, no way. After all, she is just a pencil drawing on an ordinary sheet of paper, and then she gets colored in and is a lifeless drawing. There is nothing hot about that. Nope, no way, no how.

There are many shows that could potentially be bad for the kiddies but we don't remove those from TV. Do we? Well, I wouldn't really know because if truth be known I haven't watched TV since the summer of "Who shot J.R?" Am I dating myself? Well, so are you if you know what that was about. Well, I didn't actually see the TV show I saw all those t-shirts. Oh, and the copy of TV Guide, People magazine and so many other magazine - even Science Now.

This is supposed to be about cartoons but the sad fact is, as I said before, I know nothing about these adult cartoons except what my imagination conjures up. That said, I would like to state for the record, that adult cartoons should not be taken off TV. And I mean it, unless someone else produces a stronger argument, then I might concede my point.

Let it be said here and now that while adult oriented cartoons may well hurt kids, you know give them the wrong idea about and the world. Perhaps it might, if they are lucky, show them inappropriate sexual activity. But many kids get that and more in their Arkansas mobile homes and they find out their parents are 1st cousins.

So show those cartoons but make certain they are on at appropriate times of the day so that the little ones can't see them. We have to protect because they probably don't know about their parents yet.
