Organic foods are available in most markets now a days and in a wide range of choices for those looking to lead a healthier lifestyle. While there is some debate as to how much healthier organic foods are over those that are not organic the real question here is whether or not milk is safe for infants.
According to dictionary.com an infant is one in the earliest stage of life or a baby. It is questionable as to when that stage ends, but the term is often referred to as those before the walking stage and always used for those under one year of age. The American Academy of Pediatrics doesn't recommend milk for babies before the age of one for a number of reasons, the largest being that the baby then looses out on major amounts of nutrients and vitamins that he or she needs to develop correctly.
No Organic Milk.
Whether the milk product is organic or not it doesn't change the fact that for the first six months of a baby's life it is completely reliant on the liquids (formula or breast milk) that it consumes for all of its nutrients. After six months the baby begins to receive a large variety of foods, but milk is still not one that provides enough nutrients and vitamins to the growing baby. In addition to the lack of nutrients in milk, most babies are allergic to cow's milk and will need to grow out of that allergy before consuming it. While organic milk may or may not be healthier for a person because of the lack of chemicals used it doesn't change the fact that it doesn't meet the needs of an infant.
Breast milk.
It is highly recommended that a mother feed her baby breast milk. This doesn't always work out for all families and for all women, but this is the best nutritional option for mothers who are feeding their babies. It is then possible for the advantages of organic milk to be passed from the mother to the baby because her body would (in theory) have less chemicals into. However, this doesn't change the fact that the baby needs it's nutrients from the breast milk and not from the milk organic or otherwise.
Formula.
For those who are unable to breast feed or who are choosing not to for one reason or another the safe and healthy alternative is for the infant to be feed formula. This is a processed product that is made from either soy or milk proteins and has been balanced for the perfect amount of nutrients to meet the needs of the baby. This now comes in organic varieties which provide all the necessary ingredients using organic forms of protein and materials. This is a good option for those who are hoping to feed their baby organic foods and this will provide the baby with all the nutrients necessary for life.
While it would at first glance seem like a good idea to give organic milk to an infant, it is in fact dangerous. It can make the baby ill from allergic reactions or from difficulties with digestion. It is also not balanced nutritionally to meet the needs of human babies and therefore can cause a lot of issues. Because of all of these milk and organic milk should not be given to infants.
