Reflections on the theory of carbon offsetting

The world's oceanic carbon carrying capacity is filling up. Carbon dioxide is emitted in the atmosphere by a world full of automobiles. Mass extinctions historically coincide with high global levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide. The world's oceans have micro-organic bacteria that produce 20% of the atmospheric oxygen; reason decrees that the elasticity of the atmospheric oxygen-carbon ratio and carbon sink capacity of the oceans are limited in regard to a healthy environment for human life on Earth. Sequestration of carbon emissions such that the absolute volume of carbon emitted into the atmosphere and ocean is reduced is necessary for a rational ecological economic policy.

Certainly in the era of globalism ecological economic swindling or accounts cheating on the value of carbon sequestration could readily be done comparable to political reporting of the value of globalism to the standard of living of ordinary Americans, the effectiveness of U.S. illegal alien control policies or just selected corporate tax accounting procedures. It is believed that global corporations often avoid environmental responsibility by moving to foreign nations without high environmental protection standards to pollute and produce there and export back to the nation with the substantive environmental protections. Al Gore's failure to make his mansion a high tech home power producing center to reduce carbon dioxide emissions was an example of a malapropos application of practice to theory though he meant well when he just purchased carbon offsets or green power produced elsewhere. There isn't anything as green as good home insulation, electric plug in cars, home produced wind, solar and fuel cell electrical energy. Hypothetical carbon offsets such as purchasing trees elsewhere, buying shares of a Congo forest or restriction on industrial emissions in Zimbabwe can be just a sleight of hand global method of dumping responsibility to far places that wouldn't have made many carbon emissions anyway in some cases.

Carbon offset purchases must be related to a larger picture of sound ecological economic policy that reduces conversion through the laws of thermodynamics of organized matter into disorganized matter using up non-renewable resources in the process. Carbon emission reduction is the goal of environmental protection regarding efforts to reduce carbon dioxide content in the atmosphere-just shifting the responsibility for reducing carbon dioxide emissions to someone else
