Deciding whether parents or children should pay for college

Just starting out in university is great. Earning tuition alone is extremely difficult as a student without taking time off or even years off to make the money for tuition. Myself i was lucky my parents saved up most of my money which will pay for the tuition portion but leaves the living expenses to myself. What the tricky part was that all the money put into that account was money that i had from birthdays and celebrations that my parents saved for me and invested. This takes a load of stress of my shoulders since I should never have to take out a loan which are terrible for paying back. I think this method taught some good lessons in which that saving money is well profited from especially when invested properly. As well as having to work for my own living expenses such as rent, food and those fun things, it shows the a little bit of what the real world is like such as budgeting and spreading out how I spent my money.
