Fated
The dawn I first saw
I knew not the strings
That tangled in my arms and feet
The puppeteer's mask
From heaven gleamed
And guiley plucked
The lines with glee
I knew not
The ignorant dance
To which my feet
Followed unwittingly
The dawn I first saw
I thought to be
Great and unchallenged
I saw no strings
Tied to the sun
But had I chanced
A closer look
I would have seen
A spider's web
Glistening in the light
Wrapped between
Heaven and earth
And me
I would have seen
Those same silken strings
Tied to my hands
Tied to my feet
That I was tied
To everything

and now your anger has decreed
my punishment to clean my room
to sweep and polish, shine
