so hard, in fact, that something unprecedented has happened in my Bachelor/Bachelorette viewing history.
She's down to the final two guys - and it's the two I've loved from the beginning.
First, there's Jesse, professional snowboarder from Colorado.
Though there are a lot of good looking guys on the Bachelorette this season, I was immediately physically drawn to Jesse. Whether it's the longer hair or the offbeat style, he's really the only one of the bunch that had me going, "Mmm, who's THIS guy?"
But his personality is what sealed the deal. He's hilarious! From the first night on, I knew this was my kinda guy all the way around. He's fun, but he's also been raised right and knows how to treat a lady. During their cowboy group date DeAnna fell off of the mechanical bull and Jesse was the one to literally leap to her aid.
All of their interaction has been fun; and watching their friendship blossom has been a true treat.
But because I adored him, I expected him to go by way of Bob Guiney and hit the bricks fairly early on.
DeAnna, though she doesn't usually date guys like Jesse, has seen fit to keep him around. And in doing so their chemistry has grown stronger and stronger. Not only do they have fun together, but their relationship is growing at a steady, natural pace - all thanks to Jesse's priorities.
Friends first. Make the foundation strong.
I freaking LOVE this guy.
During the hometown date, it was clear that a life with Jesse meant she'd never run out of fun, and she'd be welcomed into a family who truly knows what's important.
The only problem is the parallel love story with equally phenomenal Jason from Washington.
I fell in love with Jason the first night in, because he's a single dad completely and utterly devoted to his three year old son, Ty.
I knew immediately that this guy understands the meaning of the word "commitment".
He didn't tell DeAnna about his son until a couple of weeks in because he didn't want that to be the reason he was cast off. He chose their individual date at the Wilson Observatory to break the news. DeAnna was so cool about his having a child, even though she'd never dated a man with a child, that she ended up naming a star after Ty as a gift to Jason.
It was the first of many instances where I'd be shedding tears over this blossoming love story.
Like when Jason introduces Ty to DeAnna during the hometown date. Or when he had to say good-bye.
During the "overnight" dates, I realized that Jason too was the entire package - someone who could provide fun and laughter to DeAnna's life.
It scared me for Jesse, because I thought that would take away his edge. But then Jesse's overnight date showed that he could be the romantic, loving, committed partner she wants. And though he looks like a slacker, he's quite ambitious.
This means remarkably I am invested in both love stories I see unfolding.
And next week, DeAnna will choose between them.
One will find love, the other will get his heart broken.
Excuse me, I have to go stock up on tissue now.
Thanks DeAnna!
(I don't envy you.)
