Do TV sportcasters influence the outcome of sporting events?

Watching a sports game on television is completely different than being at the event in person. Usually when at an event there is no announcer explaining what is occurring to you over the television or giving detailed facts about the event and players taking part in it unlike when watching on TV at home. This being said, maybe the viewer who watches the event on television rather than in person may have a different experience and possibly even be influenced by the sportscaster, but the game itself will not have any different outcome despite what they may say.

The truth is, they do not hear anything of what the announcers are saying as they are not watching the game on television. They are the players participating in the game. Most often then not, those participating do not watch it on the sidelines on TV either as they are in there real time. The announcers are there to explain what is going on to those maybe first watching the sport or to give detailed explanations to those who may not be able to see it in person. If they are watching on TV or just have the TV on will be able to still see their team play.

Even if the announcers/sportscasters may be biased towards a team just because they may be winning a lot lately, or even if they bring up stats that may show a team with an advantage, it does not mean that the team they want to win will win. Their broadcast has nothing to do with the outcome of the game. There are occurrences where the sportscaster will display stats of a comeback and how players usually play in situations where they are down and the probability of them overcoming their deficit and yes it sometimes they do overcome them and it seems like the broadcasters jinxed the other team. This really though was just how it played out.

People that are not playing the game that can really influence it are the fans present and their support and their reactions to what is going on. If something tragic has happened or the fans sense a comeback their cheering can bring momentum for a team or their booing may tear a team apart if mentally which may affect their play. Others like the referees or umpires enforce the rules or have to make close calls can definitely influence a game because sometimes they make a bad call that is game changing but that is part of the game and that is why games are lengthy. Of course the coaches and players on the bench also are there for support and help make decisions which can be influenced but all of these people are present and are not broadcasting a game on television.. Sportscasters and television analysts really are for those at home as they are usually in a booth watching the game from above giving details and describing the event more than taking part in it.
