Misled
give of yourself and obey
says he who wishes her
acceptance in the coming years
her ears are filled with the
promise of simple tutlege

leaving her to wonder if

until the day she walks away
in silence toward the light of day
leaving behind the implied
demands of obedience
and a gaping audience
as she takes in gulps of
fresh air under the clear blue
canopy of entitlement to
the caress of nature's
pleasures and choices
