Poetry: The blues

I'm alone here
In this old dull building
I'm trapped inside its walls
Something majestic, and something free

I daydream about one
A preacher's daughter I sort of know
She's beautiful I'm sure
I wake up alone

I walk these walls
Of old and blue
I got a soul beneath my heart
It's pure and it's true

There's an old soul
Trying to get out
Of this beautiful old building
He tends to fill up on doubt

Historic beauty lies on these streets
Owner knows these streets well
I'm just here to fix it all
But my dreams stay and my soul may dwell

I don't remember how cold
I don't remember how blue
Ghosts are trapped within these walls
I remember dreaming of you

When all is said and done
I ran away again
I ended up alone
No companion, not one friend

Maybe I'll become great
Heal souls who need me
Maybe I'll walk on water HA!
Sprout winds and fly away

Maybe someday
It's just not right today
