Poetry: Doubt

by The Rain King

Created on: July 02, 2008   Last Updated: July 03, 2008

I look into the distance
For somebody other than me
I wanted to walk home
I wanted to be happy

In a desert
Full of solitude
I watch the sands of time
I realize its ugly magnitude

As night falls down
Ghosts come out of their homes
I know them all
All carrying pitiful hopes

They drift around
Fading in and out
Like they're searching for something
Maybe for my unforgettable doubt

Maybe life isn't about the brightest star
Or maybe the tallest trees
But above those tall trees you learn
That you should count the smoke rings

And maybe I am part
Of this ugly disease
Maybe I can't run away
From everything

I'm sitting alone
In a dungeon underground
Sitting here counting crows
Hoping someday to be found

Home is our goal and destination
Won't you ever talk to me?
Maybe someday I'll find that grey
Maybe I'll be as happy as I can be

Just maybe someday
I can be me
