Switzerland
A short while ago I visited Switzerland and found the experience enjoyable and worth doing. Now I am going to introduce you to some of Switzerland's finest tourist attractions (though I only visited a few) and golf courses. I am focusing on the south-west, since that is the area I visited
Lake Geneva:
I stayed in a charming little house rented to us in the town of St Gingolph, across the lake from the city of Montreux on the eastern side of the lake. The house itself was very good, and the real owners had surfboards and a windsurfer in the garage, though the windsurfer had parts missing. The house had everything one would expect of a holiday home, and the surfboards were a real bonus. My sister and I spent many an afternoon on the surfboards body surfing, and the lake occasionally produced large waves.
The town itself was quite small, and everything was within walking distance of each other. It was lacking good restaurants except for the creperie, though the two others were adequate. The town lies on the French-Swiss border, with us staying on the Swiss half. There are several golf courses of varying quality nearby.
Ferries sailed in and out of St Gingolph, and one day we caught one to Montreux. Montreux is a small city (or rather large town) and has a large shopping area and a few nice buildings. I can personally vouch for the creperie there-it is very good.
The location of Lake Geneva is quite beautiful, in a secluded glacial valley with beautiful peaks nearby which may be snow-capped in winter. Unfortunately, we did not explore the city of Geneva, or indeed any of the western side of the lake.
The Matterhorn:
After going on a nice drive through the beautiful Swiss Alps, enjoying all the sights of glaciers and waterfalls and high peaks, and taking a train to the town of Zermatt, we arrive near the Matterhorn. The view around the area is quite spectacular, and the figure of the Matterhorn dominates the valley. By taking a short gondola trip, one can reach a small peak where there is snow even in summer, and one can go shopping in the highest shopping mall in the world, though there are not many useful things to be bought there. The view from up there is even better than from down in the valley, and it is well worth visiting. Back down at Zermatt, there are good shopping malls and restaurants to visit after (or before) going up the mountain.
Evian Masters Golf Club:
Situated near Lake Geneva, this golf course hosts a Ladies Tour Event. It is fairly hilly,
