Terrorism in the United States

HOME GROWN TERRORISTS

By now everyone knows there is a "War on Terrorism." However, there are people who may not know what that encompasses nor, who, could be classified as a Terrorist.

The definition of a Terrorist (Dictionary.com) is very interesting. "a person, usually a member of a group, who uses or advocates terrorism. Note they need only advocate Terrorism. In turn Terrorism is defined as "the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, esp. for political purposes."

It is easy to understand why Muslim non-violent actions, such as intimidation or demands are also part of the over all picture of terrorism. With so many Islamic leaders and clerics inside and outside of their houses of worship who continuously preach hate and terrorism, in the name of Allah, it is easy to see how Muslims believers can ultimately be swayed into becoming active Terrorists.

In the "War On Terrorism" identifying an enemy is not usually easy. It is expected that some terrorists travel to countries in which they wish to cause havoc. However terrorism is greatly amplified when individuals live in a free country, like the United States, and are seduced to become terrorists. Thus the "Home Grown Terrorists."

On June 20, 2008 ABC news claimed, according to U.S. Intelligence, dozens of white Europeans have been training in terrorist camps in Pakistan. These individuals were recruited from Britain, The Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Romania and Estonia.

A 2007 "Times" investigation stated "The Deobandi (Islamic) sect that gave birth to the Taleban in Afghanistan, now runs more than 600 of Britain's 1,350 mosques." The "Times" also reported that 17 of Britain's 26 Islamic seminaries are run by Deobandis and they produce 80 percent of home-trained Muslim clerics.

Then you have the "Toronto Terror Trial" reported by the National Post" on June 20, 2008. A number of men were arrested for holding a two-week Terror Training Camp. One of the men said " Just chilling, reading the Koran and exercising. Some guys are lazy, they're gaining weight."

On June 3, 2008 ABC news reported that Christopher Paul 44, a U.S. citizen who grew up in a suburb of Columbus Ohio, entered a guilty plea of conspiracy to use explosives as weapons of mass destruction. Paul had traveled to Pakistan and Afghanistan and attended terrorist training camps. While, on June 13, 2008, a former University of South Florida student, Ahmed Mohamed, agreed to plead guilty to providing material
