Poetry: Heavy burdens

by The Rain King

Created on: July 01, 2008

*The narrator in this poem is trying to say what's on his mind, but doesn't know how to clearly state it; but he knows that you, the reader, will get the idea.

There's no one in this world
That I really care for
I went on the wire last night
Always wanting more

I wanted to make a difference
In someone's life, it's true
I wanted to free
The burdens off of you

You took my words
Read them of what they are
You listen to my word
You make the pain deter

I'm sorry if I made you sad
I'm sorry that I couldn't be there
2,500 miles across a nation
The pain I'm so aware

If I could be your hero
If I could turn out alright
I'd take my fears
Throw them out without a fight

I can't stop thinking
What will be?
Who knows what God's path is?
What the future will bring?

I hate myself
For what I'm capable of
I try myself
To change it all

If the world could
Be all crystals and gold
Then, if you would
Would you be so bold?

Patience is key
Honor is gold
Faith will always be
Forever I'm told

I'll take your burdens
I'll carry your load
I hope we don't become ghosts
On our travels down this empty road
