There is a silence here
It blocks out everything
Except the beating of my heart.
I push the water past me.
I feel as a mermaid does
As she swims alone in the ocean.
Her strength being her only means to survival.
Her will to exist
Her only reason to survive.
The beating of her heart
Her only allie in this watery world.
The sound of the water swooshing past her
Her only comfort.
There is a reassurance here
A comfirmation.
A normalcy that does not exist elsewhere.
A visible picture of the power that is within me.
And I feel graceful
And I feel beautiful
And I feel strong
I feel like me.

I feel beautiful
like a mermaid
and graceful
like an Angel fish
