For Heather
forever friend - remember when. . .
we talked for hours yesterday
the memories of all those years
made time between us fade away
knowing what we almost lost
out of touch - our paths apart
your laugh -your voice- the way you think
it's all the same - it breaks my heart
knowing what we could have shared
the laughter, pain, joy and tears
knowing that I've always cared
and wondered, wishing all these years
that I had been a better friend
and hadn't let you slip away
and now you're in my life again
16 years seems like a day
when I had to board that train
in my heart I laughed and cried
knowing we'd soon meet again
was comfort on that lonely ride
looking back on yesterday
In time we'll say remember when. . .
we came full circle on that day,
back to where we should have been

Remember When?
Do you remember when everything was new?
I remember,
I remember perfectly.

This is where we'd meet,
On this baron parking lot,
We'd live,love, and cheat.

I remember the house where I was born
With its paint peeling off and its screens all torn.
