Whispers a distant caress of lightning
come, thou slim blade of grass
where the sky impales the earth
let us dance the windleaves hence
whirl away the seasons
into a brilliant now
Shouts a hushed shimmer of thunder
come, o fragile mayfly
where the charged air arouses the world
let me teach you what it means to shiver
erode the relentless countdown
into a single tearing instant
Shrieks a tenuous murmur of wind
come, insect
where my finger touches the red dust
bare your roots
let me sweep you up
into oblivion
Dreams the grass quietly
of rain.

Poetry: Drought
by Jishi Santos
Drought
Drought loomed over the arid land
like a grey ghost
teasing of rain.
Yet nothing happened for
years
and the farmers hoped
Rain rain come out to play
The crops are in a drought these days
Beaten by the sun
Sometimes being a farmers just no fun
DROUGHT
It's been in all the news,
it's been all the news.
Montage:
grey crepe of leaves
in surrendered fields
grey arcs of skin
in
Blazing in the heavens,
On the vast earth below,
The sun scorches the land,
And no living thing can grow.
The landscape is so
Drought No More
Crackling thunder rumbles
Zigzagging fingers fire
Flying through tumults
Of storm cloud strewn sky
