The Writer's Revolution (Free verse)
The Writer's Revolution will not be televised.
It will be bled onto paper;
and contained to the black lines and white pages.
There will be no commercial interruptions.
Advertisements shall not reign supreme.
The exploitation will expire.
Pennies shall convert to dollars.
We shall realize results when we highjack reality television,
and hold hostage the minds of the people.
Read these words kind sir, young lady.
Can you appraise the worth of these syllables?
Or, are you mesmerized by the nothingness of unoriginality and inaptitude that floods our airwaves?
The Writer's Revolution is now;
it is at this moment.
But what if the revolution equates to the suspension of action by our appointment?
What if we let the writing stop and halt the blood flow supplying the country's veins?
Then will Atlas shrug?
Will the detriment be so grave that the earth's rotation will cease to persist,
when we remove the bounty of information and education,
till they recognize the devaluation and depreciation of this most precious gem?
But how could we thwart our beloved passion?
We are prisoners of our own gift;
with a weapon that could stop the wolves in their tracks.
So do we have ourselves to blame?
Is the forked-tongue spewing venom in the wrong direction?
Are we shackled by our own obstructed vision of self-worth?
All this while talentless parasites perform monologs that cast shadows on the endowment.
Never mind that.
Let us imagine like John,
a revolution without violence like Martin.
It is us.
It is we.
It is I.
Who's the enemy?
I'll let you decide.
