The definition of God according to the Oxford English Dictionary is "In Christianity and some other religions: the creator and supreme ruler of the universe," or, "a superhuman being or spirit". As this in itself is limiting us to a discussion of only a group of the world's population of children I am going to ignore the topic of God and rather define whether or not 'all children are psychic'. Psychic meaning 'of or possessing abilities that cannot be explained by science', again the Oxford English Dictionary meaning.
It is easier to accept that everyone is born with psychic ability if we stop and remember that we are actually animals and that like all of the other creatures here on earth we are born and need to survive. Nature and thousands of years of evolution, have seen us develop a number of senses , innate senses, all of which are aimed at ensuring our survival. I believe that the psychic sense is just one of these many senses.
A child knows its own mother, will respond to her smell, her voice, immediately after birth, just as a brand new ape responds to his or her mother. Babies 'know' their mother's and will not be fobbed off to another without expressing their grief. Babies grieve if separated from their mother's. How does a mother know if their child is hungry if the baby doesn't cry? Remember not all babies cry to be fed until they are famished yet a mother frequently knows that their child is hungry before it cries. Is the mother the psychic one or is the child relaying messages to the mother? When a child is tiny we see it laughing at 'nothing', it may look, follow unseen objects, listen as if hearing something that we cannot hear, and babble for minutes to the 'unseen and unheard'.
As a child grows it may develop friendships with unseen beings, or have what adults love to term 'imaginary friends'. The child may insist that the friend is real. This is the point at which quite often the link to the psychic sense begins to be shredded in our society. How the adult reacts at this point may determine whether or not the psychic sense begins to be dumbed down to eventually lie fairly dormant in the teenager to be, and unacknowledged or openly denied in the adult he or she becomes.
If the child's relationship with the psychic friend is ignored, what happens? One of two things will occur naturally. The child will move into the stage of brain development, usually around seven years of age, where the logical mind becomes naturally more dominant in preparation
