What is in a dream? For some dreams are manifestations of events to come.
For example when you dream about landing a new job and a few weeks later a job offer is sent to you via email the dream operated as a indicator.
For others dreams are recollections of past events, these dreams are episodes in our lives that play back and when they actually do occur in real life it is referred to as dj vu.
When famed psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud wrote "The Interpretation of Dreams" he described dreams as signifying "the fulfillment of a wish on the part of the dreamer."
Certainly when people dream about achieving such things as living in a mansion, driving fast cars, or living the life of a celebrity they are holding onto their beliefs that one day they can actually achieve that hope of making there wishes come true.
Dreams can be interpreted a number of ways, historically dreams were interpreted in many archaic societies as being a force in which those who possessed genuine powers could uncover messages via supernatural communication or celestial guidance.
Some dreams were also thought to be of religious value and these dreams were often interpreted as being divinely motivated and mirrored imminent spiritual occurrences.
In addition to biblical stories that spoke of the power of dreams, these ideas were often found in ancient Greek and Egyptian societies. Those who uncovered the meanings of dreams dated their findings in hieroglyphics.
As research continues on the meaning of dreams many modern day theorist have pointed out that dreams represent "opportunities for intrapersonal and interpersonal growth".
The intrapersonal and interpersonal level varies depended on the type of dream and the type of person in which the dream occurs, this is evident because each time a dream occurs the conscious and sub conscious mind is at work.
Modern day theorist also believe that there is a connection between REM sleep and the frequency of dreams.
Researches state that dreams can be affected by a number of factors including, drugs, sleep deprivation, depression and other medical disorders.
Dreams serves as a purpose, a reminder, a hope and a fear for those dreamers who go to bed unwillingly knowing what there imaginations are going to stir.
The next time you go to bed and dream be aware that your dreams may reflect upon memories of past events and/or realities of future events to come.
