Mimic
It's a funny little word when you throw it in race.
We watch you sag your jeans low because we made it a trend, heaven forbids you wear a belt
We watch as you pop yo' collar and chunk up a deuce like you have any idea what it really means
We watch as you throw the word nigga around like you didn't once upon time use it against us
We watch you slip the word shawty into a conversation like you invented it's slang use
We watch as you try to spit game at our females, tempting them cause your cash is fast and made the legal way
We watch as you invade the music world we created in a retaliation for not being accepted into yours
We sit back and shake our heads as you try to bring it low and shake it fast cause you saw it in a video
We sit back and shake our heads as you try to raise your fist in some sad excuse to try to make a movements that's already been made, sorry kids you're a little late
We sit back and shake our heads at letting you act like you don't stand out like a snow flake in a coal storm
We sit back and shake our heads while we just let you mimic us
Why?
Because you watch as we pull up our pants to a decent level to try to get a job working for you
Because you watch us fold our collar down and shake your hand hoping these connections will get us ahead in the lower life we're stuck living now after equality is supposed to be flourishing
Because you watch as we sit powerless having no word to throw back at you that you over came
Because you watch us say words like dude in fear of sticking out in the wrong crowd at the wrong time
Because you watch while we try to step to your females knowing the best we can offer them something in bed they'll never find with you
Because you watch the struggle for us to still conqueror your untouchable genre that touches more ears than ours sometimes
Because you sit back and shake your head as we try to twist our bodies until we're a picture perfect ballerina, trying to be a swan in a duck's body
Because you sit back and shake your head like we'll ever make a significant difference in the way our country is ran
Because you sit back and shake your head in disbelief we'll ever really be one in the same
Because you sit back and shake your head while you just let us mimic you.
It's a funny little word when you throw it into race huh?

Where Did Racism Come From?
Where did racism come from?
Certainly, not from God
For He made each one of us of one blood
