Exploring the rising trend in gas prices

by Lou Rountree

The first to explore the rise in gas prices were the Pennsylvania oil pioneers who invested their time and effort to fill the need for fuel oil. This was the birth of an industry. Because of the use of oil for the automobile, the industry grew into the giant industry of today. With a pattern of increased supply the demand for oil came with increases of price to cover investments and profit. The popular trends were intertwined with having the horseless carriages as a matter of prestige and convenience.

As distillation techniques were improved more side products of oil were in demand for axel grease, skin lotions for beauty and health along with many products which were improved by inclusion of oil by products in their process. Thus the burgeoning oil industry experienced a good foundation which showed promise of great longevity.

The adventures of oil wildcatters and their roll of the dice to become rich were not without an investment of ingenuity, courage and a good work ethic. Determining where to drill to obtain a successful oil strike was a gamble in the early days and to this day there are dry fields and those not capable of profitable operation. This was just another exploration of oil as a business and a means to wealth.

Conservationists thrill seekers and those in pursuit of wealth soon began to exceed the boundaries of the US and explore in foreign countries for oil. The countries lucky enough to have oil on their land were happy to explore a path to increases of individual bank accounts as well as national monetary gains. With American know how a great many countries were beneficiaries of the oil boom. Again, this was an expanding market for oil and wealth and with the money involved should have resulted in many improvements in foreign countries. Unfortunately, many of the countries, especially in the Mid East and South America were not lucky enough to be Democracies and the money was often dispensed on the whims of dictators and tyrants.

Another parallel of oil exploration was the political use of oil both, internationally and domestically. This has involved wars and attempts of the takeover of countries around the world. Unfortunately, in the United States the current political use of oil is being used to select the President of the United States. The liberally controlled US Congress has refused to cooperate in supplying enough oil at a reasonable price for the past eight years. The liberals have a political "win at any cost" program well in place and will not even answer current demands by the citizens of the US for increasing the supply of oil to lessen exorbitant pricing by the Mid East and other oil cartels. The current liberal control of congress assumes that they can hold this unpopular position until they have won the election in 2008 at which time there will be massive drilling and refinery development. The docile public will easily be misdirected to other interests and easily controlled.

Environmentalists have joined the liberal politicians in seeking to limit the oil industry in providing oil. A massive media effort has been organized and planned in political war rooms to blame the dearth of oil supplies and rising prices on the conservatives and big oil companies. Even the Hollywood media effects may be seen in such lauded films as "There Will Be Blood", a movie which shows the historical efforts of an oil man as akin to "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre". This movie is not incidental but, rather reflects the current liberal views in Hollywood. They are an important spoke in the liberal wheel of disinformation and brainwashing to achieve political power. All of these efforts are an unfortunate exploration of oil prices. The public pays and the nation moves closer to the ultimate takeover by terrorists and foreign countries with an agenda to defeat the US.

Currently the United States is witness to a liberal congress blocking oil supplies in our own country. This is an extremely dangerous tact when we realize that the tilting points of history are ever present and they are capable of unstable excess which could render the US a defeated power. History, with scientific advances and military weaponry lethal enough to allow our enemies to "waltz in" and take over our country makes the liberal congress guilty of the most foolish agenda of all. Many who love the US as citizens realized on 9-11 that the incidents could have been followed by say, fifteen or twenty more similar incidents and a major blow to the US without a target to respond to could have ended this great country of ours. Some remember waiting in a suspended state of disbelief for ensuing attacks to occur. Luckily on 9-11 we sustained only the four major incidents. The president acted with very effective and exacting measures to assure that we would survive. We may count our blessings.

As recommended by the President of the US a program of drilling for more oil should commence at once and refinery construction should commence immediately.
If we continue to play the blame game the countries that are disregarding the environmentalists and drilling off our shores and others will have the luxury of exploring the oil commodity to riches and power gain at our loss. Freedom should be a cherished benefit however; it could be lost forever when the liberal congress indulges in a political gamble. The result would be accompanied great increase of the cost of oil and gas.
