Poetry: The depths of my heart

Does the heart speak?

Do our mouths speak what the heart wants?
With subtle hints and sexual flaunts
Do we wander this earth trying to fill the hole?
That gaping valley at the center of the soul

Does our heart know what the mind is thinking?
The way the mind knows when the heart is sinking
If the mind is cluttered and wrongly taught
Does the heart have half a shot?

Is the heart responsible for our dreams?
Or is that the mind who quietly screams?
If your heart is broken, who tells the mind?
Maybe the mind knew first and the heart is behind

When the heart is subject to pain and strife
Does the brain push to continue with life?
When we're happy and all is well
Is it the heart or the mind that first can tell?

Does the heart just pump blood throughout our veins?
Or does it carry love straight to our brains?
Which one leads us from the start?
Our disturbed brain or our loving heart

I wonder if the heart can and does speak
Or even shout when our mind is weak
I believe our hearts should always lead
The mind is a vessel to express what we need
