Life is a battle. A battle between what you want, what you need and what you can get. Where you want to be and where you are now. The things you do and the things you don't do, the things you should say and the things you want to say. The key is finding the happy medium and emerging from this war victorious.
Now, thrown into the mix to scare and confuse us are a certain amount of challenges. Most people would say that these challenges differ from person to person and some are harder than others but I don't think so. No matter what it is that you have been through or are facing right now, I can almost guarantee that at least 1 other person in the world has done it too. The only difference is the way people deal with these challenges, some bury their head in the sand hoping not to have to deal with it, others face their fears head on. I myself have my head firmly stuck in the sand, where it has been for most of my life. I can advise other people but I cannot apply my counsel to my own problems, as I am sure is true of a lot of people. It is easy to see where someone else is going wrong, it's easy to advise them of the best way to deal with a certain thing but when it is your life that's being dissected it's not so easy to see the truth.
I guess you could say I have dealt with my fair share of challenges and bumps in the road, I don't think for a second that I am finished yet and I anticipate most problems before they arise but I am one of the lucky ones. I have an amazing family unit and a great circle of friends to support me when times get hard, I am all too aware that not everyone has that, for a time I didn't either. The biggest piece of advice I have to impart is; Take all the help that is offered to you. "No man is an island", and no man can get through this alone so if you are lucky enough to have people that want to help you, take it. There is absolutely no shame at all in admitting that you cannot do it alone, in fact I personally believe it takes far more strength to ask for the help you need than to struggle on without it and alone. Everyone, at some point in their lives, will need some form of help, be it from family and friends or a trained professional and anyone who says they don't is lying! The internet is an amazing place full of social network, self-help guides, forums and message boards where you can interact with, seek advice from and maybe give advice to lots of people in a similar situation, use them that is what they are there for and they really can make difference to how you deal with these things.
So, even when your problems overwhelm you, when the obstacle set before you seems to high and you have lost the last shred of confidence you once had in yourself, do not let it beat you down. Strap on your armour, smear on the war paint, let out your best battle cry and charge head on into the unknown. Pain, suffering, insecurity and fear cannot win. Life waits for no man.
