His next publication was "Das Kapital" which became the bible of the communist party. He felt that capitalists robbed laborers of ther output - that laborers were exploited and would face increasing misery if capitalism developed further. Marx preached revolution after which a dictatorship of the proletariat would emerge in which the workers would exercise control through the state. After all elements of capitalism were erased, the state would die on the vine leaving a classless, communal society; thus the communist doctrine: "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs". Let's look at a modern version of communism to see if this is how it works.
Todd Bensman, a staff writer for the Dallas Morning News wrote an article entitled Students' Cuba Trip Revealing; UTD business group finds stifled capitalists. In May of 1996 the UTD students took a nine day fact finding trip to Cuba. The class instructor, Enrique Santos had fled Cuba as a child. Some perservering capitalists were taking weeks to compile the components of a single cigar they would sell for $15.00. Acquiring land was so complicated and difficult that some couples divorced so that one could marry a landowner in a previously arranged agreement that the new couple would divorce, and the first couple remarry and keep some land.
