Working Mom: Balancing Work and Family
Whether you are a married working mom or a single working mom, careful planning and vigilant organization are vital in the sequence from home to work. Careful planning will help you provide even handedness to both commitments, and help you retain your sanity in times of stress. Working moms know that once they are at work, home is on a back burner. Not forgotten, but already planned for and taken care of in any way possible to ensure the smooth flow necessary to accommodate both duties. The organization required to keep this tight rope act together require a vigilant and optimistic attitude. Without proper planning, each day can become too hectic and demanding, causing problems at both home and work.
Women have been working mothers for many years. Many of our own moms worked when we were young. Many of us find ourselves wondering, how did our mother's manage to effortlessly raise us while holding down a job? We made it to adulthood, unscathed by the lack of continuous mother attendance. The reality of this issue is, working mothers have always felt a conflict between family and work. If your mother worked, she probably agonized over it. The difference today is that everything in life, whether work or family, seems to be operating at a lightning-fast speed. Now, more women are raising children and working than ever before. Rising expenses and the desire for independence have made working moms the norm rather than the exception to the rule.
The Challenges of Being a Working Mother
Today's working mom faces many day to day challenges and often feels overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of what they manage to do each and every day. In the face of daily responsibilities, moms need to prioritize and manage down to the smallest element of their families lives. Working moms face each day head on with amazing stamina and determination. Some days flow smoothly, others do not, but no matter what at the end of the day, you know you have tomorrow. Tomorrow, the household chores will still be there, and dinner plans can go a little smoother than last night's. What matters the most at the end of the day is the time and love you shared with your family. Working moms need to feel proud of what they accomplish each day. These women are up to the task of raising children and working. With smart planning and strategic coordination, working moms can accomplish their goals.
1. Set Consistent Bedtimes
Children will be more successful in school, and have better attitudes with a good nights sleep.
2. Schedule Housework
You will get more done during the week, and will have less to do on the weekends.
3. Avoid Over-Scheduling
Say no when you feel control slipping away. Remember, your priorities.
4. Nurture Yourself
Take the time to do your nails, take a nice leisurely bath. You will feel more in control.
5. Supportive System
Ask for help from those you trust. You simply cannot do everything.
