Being 17 in high school doesn't like a time for an internship, but it was one that changed my life. I was fortunate enough to teach preschoolers dance at a professional studio, ran by a recently retired Rocket. It prepared me for the profession I'm currently in by preparing me for the focus and idea of what working in an actual business situation was like opposed to just an after school job. While in that setting, because of the company's prestige, I learned to present myself in a respectable manner with my conduct and tone to parents, employees and bosses who were all significantly older than me. In the environment, I learned basic principles of leaving attitudes and personal feeling at the door, which more often than not is something many young people do not learn to until their mid twenties after phasing in and out of careers. Currently, I am the youngest teacher at my school, but am often praised for my professionalism I learned early on. Without that internship I would still be where many of peers are at jobs, which have no future in sight because they don't understand the simple politics of having a professional setting.
