Poetry: Beyond the clouds

Promise for tomorrow

The day has been gloomy, showery and grey
But beyond the clouds the sun's still there:
Our lives are the same.
No matter what troubles have come our way
Or if we've encountered deep despair;
We shouldn't seek to blame.

If we truthfully search within our souls
And look deep for joy and love to bring
Brightness like the sun;
And remember times from days of old
To soothe our hearts and make them sing
The clouds will soon be gone.

As the gloomy day draws to its end
From beyond the clouds the sun peeks through
And I remember again;
From long ago what my Mum often said
When the sky had not shown any blue
And it had drizzled rain.

"When Nature's had her fill of play
And all around is dank and wet
Don't give in to sorrow.
Believe there'll come a better day:
The sun will come out in time to set
With promise for tomorrow."
