Poetry: Romance

by April's Aria

Created on: June 28, 2008

*Romance is a Mess*

*
Flowers have died on my dining room table
I would throw them away if I were able
A faint smell of candle lingers in the air
And hot wax remains have been burnt in my chair.
*
Empty glasses and bottles litter my place
Red wine ring stains on grandma's white linen lace
The fire place ashes have seared holes in the rug
"A scene of romance"? I question as I shrug.
*
You left me with memories and quite a mess
We have great times together I do confess
You treat me so fine like your little Princess
But our long separations causes distress.
*
Fantastic romance and then separation
Bewilders my brain and creates confusion
Transient charades of love sustains my heart
A painful injection each time you depart.
*
I clear all the clutter and I go to bed
Romance and its ruins play out in my head
Alone every night I'm fretful and restless
Envisioning more "romance" and all the mess.
