AT JOURNEY'S END

The journey's long, the road is often rugged.
With tears we till the fertile fields of life.
Trials make us stagger, weak and wounded,
When disappointment wields her cruel knife.

Heaven often seems remote and silent.
God seems busy tending larger tasks.
Earth's pilgrim feels too small and unimportant
For God to grant the blessings that he asks.

But though the way be rough, the Father's watching
And caring for the one who clings to Christ.
Though the path be dark, the Son is shining
To light the way through each soul's blackest night.

And though grief come tonight, we know tomorrow
God's planned an end for struggle, pain, and strife.
At journey's end, He'll dry our tears of sorrow,
Replacing pain with perfect, joyful life!
