The lost of Personal Interaction is The Internet the Cause?
Interpersonal relationships between people are a vital part of a culture and the member's ability to communicate with one another. Personal interaction allows people to create bonds, share individual ideas and thoughts, debate differences, observe body language and provide physical comfort during difficult times. As Internet technology develops there has been a noticeable decline of personal interaction among members of our society. It is my opinion that the evolution of the Internet has negatively impacted society's ability to personally interact with others. The evolution of the internet has predicated the decline of personal interaction among our culture. Over the last twenty years technology has provided us with computers, cell phones, the internet, e-mail and Play station and Nintendo game systems as well as cable and satellite television. During this time there has been a noticeable decline in personal interaction between members of our culture.
The effect of the development of the internet has negatively impacted interactions between people within our culture. Proponents of the Internet's development will say that the benefits include the convenience of being able to get important messages, retrieve and research information, send multiple messages and documents and have them received within minutes. There are studies which indicate that playing electronic game increase hand to eye coordination and help to develop logical thinking and stimulate a child's imagination. (Caruana, 2008)
This research seeks to prove that the internet has negatively had an effect on people in our culture and has caused a decline in their contact with other human beings. This paper focuses on the negative effect that the advances in technology, particularly the internet, has had on interpersonal communication and how our culture is becoming devoid of face to face contact.
As the internet has developed I have noticed decline of personal interaction among members of our society. Twenty years ago I introduced the concept of purchasing computers for the plant offices to my boss, I provided all of the justifications explaining that I would be able to process orders sooner, there would be less files cluttering the office and I could forward information to other staff without them having to leave their offices.
