Movie reviews: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Thirty years ago uber-producer, George Lucas, and Hollywood's most bankable director ,Steven Spielberg, joined forces for arguably one of the greatest films ever made, "Raiders of the Lost Ark". The story introduced us to Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones JR, a college professor by day and a globe trotting archaeologist by night. In this first installment the good doctor faces off against the Nazi's in search of the legendary Ark of the Covenant.

The movie was an instant success and it was only a matter of time before we got our first sequel, "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom". This time around he deals with a Voo-Doo like civilization in India, while he tries to retrieve three stones that were stolen form a nearby village who's children have mysteriously disappeared. This entry in the series was notably dark, thanks to a nasty divorce that Lucas was going through at the time. The critics were a little harsh towards this one, due to the fact that it was deemed to dark for children by some. A sequel was not an easy sell at this time.

Several years later, the studio was ready for another adventure and it turned out to be the one we were waiting for, some would say including me it was the best in the series; "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade". Dr. Jones once again goes up against the Nazi's, and even gets the autograph of Hitler himself, in search of the Holy Grail. Along the way we meet Indy's father, played by Sean Connery. The film ended up being a bigger success and better received, probably more so than the earlier two combined. It was thought that this would be the end of our adventures with Indy, Spielberg even went as far as filming the last scene with Indy riding off into the sunset signifying it was over.

Now, 19 years later, the tri-force of power, Lucas Spielberg and Ford, have come together for one more ride. Thanks in part to the current trend of remakes and sequels. This time around Dr. Jones has aged quite a bit and isn't moving as fast. After escaping the Russians, led by Cate Blanchett, at area 51, the site of the infamous warehouse from the end of the first film, he finds himself in a fake town that is about to destroyed by the testing of the A-bomb. Using an old lead lined refrigerator he's able to once again dodge death's grasp.

The FBI finds out about his encounter with the Russians in a restricted Air Force Base and considers him a person of high interest. They even go as far as getting him fired from his job at Marshall, where
