COUNT THE COST
A school yard dare but they just don't care
Its enough to start them off,
Their twinkling eyes will start to die
And who's going to count the cost,
A promising career for the sake off a peer
In the system a another one's lost,
So look around and tell me now
Who's going to count the cost.
There's a doc down my way and to get through the day
Has a mirror lined up on his desk,
For a political trill they all pop a pill
And they think they can tell us whats best,
I hear you cry how dare i try
And suggest that they act in this way,
But to count the cost and the social lost
Its not just our children this day,
A celebrity fool who thinks that its cool
To portray that its leaving no mark,
Played up on our screen
And then it is seen
By our kids as a walk in the park,
So look around and tell me now
Who's going to count the cost.
CHORUS
So come on my dear you've no need to fear
The government will sort them all out,
Cos its half the price and twice as nice
Its legal fags and beer,
But don't you see that when its free
There's nobody to pay a toll,
But go underground and you here the sound
Off the money start to roll,
Hear that money start to roll.
A sporting hike on a racing bike
But he no longer feels the pain,
A steroid dope there's just no hope
He'll ever ride again,
There's a gentleman's club who wouldn't rub
Their shoulders with you in the street,
But just don't think you'll ever sink
As low as their leather bound seat,
With their clean cut suit and Scotch to boot
And a mountain off snow on a tray,
They think their the best but just like the rest
They'll be high at the end off the day,
So look around and tell me now
Who's going to count the cost.
CHORUS
So come on my dear and have no fear
The government will sort it all out,
A chemical pill but without the trill
As it poisons your mind there's no doubt,
But unlike the leaf that lives beneath
The grip off extortionate tax,
They will make you pay at the end off the day
And you still never get to relax,
So don't you see that when its free
Nobody pays a toll,
But go underground and you hear the sound
Off the money start to roll,
Hear that money start to roll.
So tell your friends and we can all pretend
That we're feeling on top off the world,
With more tick than a clock
Its your sense you soon knock
As your balance is ghosted away,
And like a poison dart through an angels heart
Your sanity fades to grey,
But don't disspare there,s lots out there
That will join you at the end off the day,
But there's more to blame than the same old same
In this ever deepening pit,
So don't pretend that what they spend
Will solve the final hit,
But alls not lost if we count the cost
Off the people that really do care,
Just hold them tight and join the fight
And just let them know your here,
So look around and tell me now
Who's going to count the cost.
CHORUS
So come on my dear....
