US electioins 2008: Obama contributes to Clinton's campaign debt relief fund

First of all, I want to acknowledge that I am neither Democrat or Republican, as a matter of fact, I am so independent, even the Independents wouldn't have me. Perhaps I'm jaded by the seemingly endless parade of ridiculous campaign coverage, or maybe it's just that I have a very low tolerance for the absurd. Whatever the case, i was baffled by the recent report on Yahoo, that stated Senator Barack Obama has contributed nearly five thousand dollars to Hillary Clinton's campaign debt relief fund, which apparently is an effort to pay back the debt she accrued as a result of being too stubborn to drop out of the hunt in a timely manner, even though the math indicated her campaign was all but a lost cause months ago.

I suppose it could be argued that it's an amicable gesture on Obama's part, and given some of the shots he took from the Clinton campaign leading up to her eventual withdrawal, I have to say, it's more than I would have done. I've always been amazed at how politicians can go from adversaries to cohorts in such a short amount of time. It does make a person wonder how well the concept of loyalty is understood in Washington, although I admit it's just one of many tale tale signs that something is wrong in regard to our democratic processes.

The reality is that I find it hard to believe that Hillary Clinton needs financial assistance. And even if she does, she's got to be way down on the list in terms of priority. I haven't viewed the financial records, but I know a lot of money was spent on the part of the Clinton campaign, and ultimately it would appear as though it was money questionably spent. If I remember correctly she even spent some of her own money, and it's not entirely unlikely that she's on the list of people she would like to pay back.

Overall, it seems as though she is not without her supporters, and given the milestone nature of the Democratic run for the White House, it has definitely been one of the more memorable political clashes in recent history. I do however find it to be near tragic that the end result is one of the nation's most powerful women becoming a charity case. That pretty much puts her in the same boat with the rest of the citizens at this point, I wonder if Senator Obama could allocate some funds for the rest of us too.

It's quite possible that the contribution was an effort look gracious, or maybe sympathetic,or empathetic, but I'm content to refer to it simply as pathetic. She should have spent less money. She probably needs to learn that it's foolish to spend money you can't afford to spend. She should probably evaluate the situation more carefully in the future, and maybe make a few less commercials, or buy cheaper shoes, or something! A reduction in expenditures is essential when trying to operate within a limited budget. That being said, with her fiscal situation in mind, I don't know that she would have done much good for our economy as President anyhow. It's an improbability that she'd be chosen as V.P. under these circumstances either, nobody wants a Vice President that's always broke by payday.
