The "Mormon" religion is mistook by alot of people. I used to be one of those people. I
was raised Pentacostal. I believe though, that, any good, true thing in life is tough.
Satan does not like truth, he does not like good things, or for us to be happy. I believe
that you need to have Faith, love, charity, and most of all prayer. If you can pray in
faith, and ask your Father in heaven anything,if you truely have faith, you will feel His
answer, He will guide you always. We may not always like His answers if we don't get what
we want, but always remember that He knows what is best for us and He will never take
anything away from you, without opening doors to something better. I hope that this article
will help inform people a little more about Mormons. We are all here for the same reason.
We all love the same God.
Before I give the explanation of the lack of crosses in the Mormon religion,
and a few other frequently asked questions about the Mormon religion and practices.
let me tell you a little about me. I have been a strong, proud member now for nine years.
I am the only member of the church in my family, except my husband and children. My husband
is also the only member in his family. Being the only members in our families, we get
asked quite a few questions. It just seems easier and more practical to me, to write this
article to answer these questions. I have been asked many questions by so many people, that \
I figured there must be many more out there, that have wondered the same things, but never
asked, or just assumed.
The first question people usually ask me is, "Do you practice polygamy?" The answer is,
no, we do not practice polygamy. You may be thinking right now, well, what about those ones in Utah. That's where it throws a lot of people off. We are LDS (Latter-day Saints)and those
that practice polygamy are FLDS (Fundamentalist Latter-Day Saints). There is absolutely no
connection between the two. If a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
were to start practicing polygamy, they would be excommunicated from the church.
The second question I get alot is, "So, you don't believe in Jesus, or celebrate
Christmas?" The answer is, yes we definitely believe in Jesus, other wise, why
would the name of our church bear His name? And, yes, we do celebrate Christmas.
The third question I answer alot is, "Why don't Mormons display or wear crosses?"
Well, The easiest way to explain it, is that we concentrate on His life, and not
on His death. Of course we teach and learn about the Atonement, and his crucifixion,
but we choose not to display it. I guess that it may be easier to understand if
I explain it this way. For example, if my brother and I were mugged, and my brother
jumped in front of me and was shot, saving my life. I would definitely always be
grateful and remember him and love him, but I would focus on his life, not his death.
I would not wear a gun around my neck, or display a gun. I know that there is nothing
that can compare to what Jesus has done for us, but that parable is the best way I
can think of to explain why you will never see a cross displayed at or in a LDS church
or temple. I hope that this helps some understand this choice better. This article is
solely meant to be explanatory, and not as an offense to anyone. Thank you for taking the
time to read this article, I hope you've found it to beinformative, and helpful.
Have a great day.
