Israel, was Palestine, a holy land for Jews, Muslim and Christians, and was also known as Canaan to the ancient Hebrew in the 12th century B.C. The Muslim/Arabs conquered and settled in Palestine in the 7th century. The Arabs ruled with periodic interruptions from the Christian Crusaders until the 20th century.
An important point to keep in mind is that for the Jews, Palestine(Jerusalem) has been the center of their culture, spiritual and national life for about 3 thousand years and for the Christians it has been 2 thousand years; whereas the Arabs arrived later from Medina, Arabia in the 7th century and forcibly establish their culture, religion and government in Palestine in their conquering paths to North Africa, Europe, parts of Asia and even to China.
The Zionist movement precipitated the British Balfour Declaration of 1917, which established their homeland. The UN partitioned Palestine into Arab and Jewish parcels. When the British left Palestine, the Jewish National Council declared the State of Israel and joined the UN in 1949. From Wikipedia is a description of Israel as of today.
The new country's victory in the subsequent Arab-Israel War expanded the borders of the Jewish state beyond those in the UN Partition Plan. Since then, Israel has been in conflict with many of the neighboring Arab countries, resulting in several major wars and decades of violence that continue to this day. Since its foundation, Israel's boundaries and even the State's very right to exist have been subject to dispute, especially among its Arab neighbors. However, Israel has signed peace treaties with Egypt and Jordan, and efforts are being made to reach a permanent accord with the Palestinians.
Israel is a representative democracy with a parliamentary system and universal suffrage. The Prime Minister serves a head of government and the Knesset serves as Israel's legislative body. In terms of nominal gross domestic product, the nation's economy is estimated as being the 44th-largest in the world. Israel ranks high among Middle Eastern countries on the bases of human development, freedom of the press, and economic competitiveness. Jerusalem is the country's capital, seat of government, and largest city, while Israel's main financial center is Tel Aviv.
Israel, the only democracy and thriving nation existing in the Middle East as described in the last paragraph and living next to Arab undemocratic nations who have brought nothing into the world except hate for the infidels a special hate for the Jews. The problem is that Islam is riddled with Jew hatred. There can be no solution.
Just today, June 24, another truce violation by the Arabs, and Israel always giving the Arabs one more chance, is not going to bring a lasting cease fire. It appears the truce that was broken was a time period for more regrouping and prepping for more never ending assaults.
