With so many negative things in the world, how do you stay positive? I stay positive by counting my blessings. I keep in mine that no matter what I have God beside me, and only he knows how many times he have carried me.
When I was 12 years old, my mother passed, but I still had my dad. I knew of families that lost both parents. I seen children placed into different homes after the death of a parent (especially behind the death of a mother), but my dad chose to keep us together. Right after my mom died my oldest sister abandoned her 6-month-old son with us. This was not he grandchild, but he let me keep him with me.
I have seen abusive marriages such as the one I had with my first husband, lead to disfigurements, jail and sometimes death. I made it out in tack (except for my pride).
I have always been able to find a job. I have never had to go to bed hungry or go without my utilities. I have always had a roof over my head and clothes on my back.
At 45 years old, I have all my children, siblings, dad and a 96-year-old grandmother, who gets around better than I do. I have friends and family that will catch me if I fall down to far.
Because of my mannerism, I have always gotten help from outside, people I did not know. These were people, who heard good thing about me and just wanted to help. I have never left a rental home or job that I could not return. I own my home and everything in it. I have never left in ill will with anyone I have ever met.
I can rise every morning with out man made help, just the Lord and me. I have a paying job, three good running cars and food in my cupboards.
In 1984, I was in a bad car wreck. As, the car I was in was torn half in two, my leg was pinned under the dashboard. During the entire thing, I was under the car being drugged a city block. I received twenty-eight stitches on the right shoulder and fifty-three cross by chest and collarbone. All I have is the stitch marks and a sore shoulder when snow and rain is on its way.
I have had attempts of abuse, robbery and rape made against me. I have had someone try to run me down with a car, and I my ex-husband have shot at me several times. The blessing was these were attempts. I am still here healthy and strong.
I am about thirty pounds overweight, smoke a pack of Newport's a day and love a good sip of Jack Daniels. At 23 years old, I was told I had cancer, thirteen years and three states doctors later, while prepping me for a hysterectomy they could find no signs of the cancer.
I am a very blessed person and that makes me very positive. I have my own shining light and it shines brighter that all of those negative dim lights in the world.
