"The War"
(Addiction)
Sense the evil lurking
Within a fragile mind.
Weakened as her husband passed,
And she was left behind.
Her dreams, they all were shattered.
She knew not what to do.
The days slipped by without a trace
As the pain just grew and grew.
Someone she thought that she could trust
Tried to help her ease the pain.
As the flame began to melt the rock,
So began the devils reign.
A year goes by or maybe two,
Still lost within her Hell.
Again the pipe shall meet the flame
And consume her empty shell.
At last she tries to live her life
And tame the beast within.
The demons beckon her return
and she falls back to sin.
I met her in a sober state.
Her beauty can't be described.
Angelic wings could not be seen,
Yet the Angel shines through her eyes.
I fell in love so quickly.
I never stood a chance.
Every Kiss was passion,
As my heart and soul would dance.
Her past came back to haunt me
When she sliped away once more.
Though I had never seen such things,
I could never slam loves door.
In my world a war is raging.
The battle has just begun.
I'll fight with the strength of a thousand men
And with God the battle is won.
I'll face the demons with a smile,
For I know they will be slain.
Courage fuels the passion
as I break the devils reign.
My prayers keep being answered.
As God takes full control.
At last the beast is defeated,
as she gives God heart and soul.
She told me she was nothing special.
I saw through the lies.
I knew God had us meet that day,
As I gaze into angelic eyes.

Yet her face is aged and weathered.
Her brow is permanantly down.
