Believing in destiny

Destiny, the pre-ordination of life either by human will or divine will. In its oldest human sense, it is in fantasy that "you are the one to save us" or that romance that was "meant to be." Yet, for many, it is the idea that there is a plan for life, that life is not by accident.

I can definitely respect the idea of destiny, but just do not see it as realistic or plausible. As I look beyond myself into my future, my destiny cannot be seen, as enclosed in the very idea of destiny. To believe in something I cannot see is definitely not a concept which eludes me, but in the case of destiny-it serves no purpose. In that respect, the belief in destiny is backwards serving only to mask the reality of what will be.

Rather than destiny, I believe in hope, that perhaps even if tomorrow is not totally set before that life will have purpose. I believe in self-confidence, that though my steps may not always step forward that life will still go on. And I believe in trust, that in this world despite imperfection there can be found good to which I may cling when I do stumble. For those who believe in destiny for whatever reason, more power to you. I place more faith in myself than in unseen fate.
