What is Culture shock !

Many small town people or less educated people who are confined to their small world experience a " Cultural Shock" when they come outside their home for the first time.

Cultural shock is nothing but a sort of feeling that comes in the individual when he sees somebody inferior or superior to him ,may be in a dressing style , or they way of communication and the most important is the body language that they see among the individuals. The cultural shock comes with food , attire, working style, living style etc.

The behavior in each individual differs in coping up with this shock when they experience this for the first time. For example if a small village girl who has never worn a pant or has never spoken to a single boy she will get a very big cultural shock if she sees a girl who is roaming with her boy friend wearing a short blouse and a miniskirt in a big town .

It may be a very small town boy also who has never had a smoke or beer comes to study in college or gets a job and there he gets trapped in a big graduation party.

Everybody has their own way of handling the "Cultural Shock". The first change will keep them little confined or with a confused feeling in them or may be sometime a feeling of being inferior would come in themselves.

The best thing is to read about the culture of any place that you are going to and keep yourself open mind to imbibe anything that comes on the way. If you keep yourself open minded you will always have an excitement of the new place and new people. If you keep yourself away and scared you will feel homesick and never be able to move on with people.

The cultural does not stay forever in one's life. It keeps on changing as the days pass by. As some days pass by, the individual tends to live by the same needs and the requirements and tends to evolve himself in that culture so that he can also stand up among the crowd.

After some time the individual is fully involved in that culture enjoying every bit of it. may it be the way of dressing or the way of communicating or the way of living. He feels is not the same as he was when he came to the place for the first time and a feeling of being confident and a feeling of being an achiever comes in his mind.

Once he is all turned or once he is all set to go with the new people around him he will try to educate his younger brother or sisters and in this way he helps his own family to grow in the current society. He will do this so that his family does not go through the same position as he went when he came to the new place.

The story is very simple , it just happens the way you want things to happen. If is your own choice to grasp good things from any culture or bad things. Some individuals do involve themselves according to the society but they do not forget their own "CULTURAL VALUES" In this way they keep updating themselves with new attires, fashion and the style of living but they also have a respect of their family and their cultural values.

If we have a look at different cultures, all of them are different, they all have their own style of worshipping, eating and living. Every part of the world have different culture. No culture is bad or inferior it's just the way of looking with one's eye and mind , because after all we are sons and daughters of the same LORD.
