LESSER OF THE EVILS.

Neither Simon Cowell nor Piers Morgan are actually my cup of tea, as we say in England, but if I had to choose the most attractive personality, between these two, Simon Cowell would win hands down. These two individuals are almost the same age.

PIERS MORGAN.

Piers has arrived on our television screens via a career in journalism. At the age of 28 Piers was the youngest newspaper editor for 50 years. However it must never be forgotten that the paper was the british Sunday scandal sheet, The News of the World. This newspaper does not really carry news and I guess is a little like America's National Enquirer, but with very little truth in evidence. Controversy and criticism has never been far away from Piers and there have been numerous accusations over the years. He is usually to be found on our television screens as a judge on programmes such as America Has Got Talent.

SIMON COWELL.

Simon Cowell started his career path in the music industry. Despite his career's dubious beginnings he does seem to know his stuff these days and to have found his niche in his working life. As a judge on Britain's got Talent, Pop Idol, X Factor and American Idol he has become a well known face. Initially known for his notoriously hard comments he has stood the test of time. Simon has made a fortune and does seem to have the Midas Touch. He also has an eye for great talent and, for example, was the first to spot that Leona Lewis had potential and an exceptional performing talent.

THE MOST ATTRACTIVE TV PERSONALITY?

To my mind Piers seems to be trying to model himself on Simon and failing miserably. He constantly appears to be second best, and a poor second best at that. Simon has mellowed with time and although some of his comments may be harsh they are usually true often constructive and designed to be helpful. He comes across as a strong personality who knows his own mind. At times Simon can be funny, quirky, well groomed, charming and quite appealing to the audience. In comparison Piers comes across as a bit of a middle class twit who is trying too hard. His jokes often fall flat and at times his criticisms can be cruel. As someone who has no apparent talent in the entertainment field I find it hard it understand how he has been given the chance to be a judge on such shows. Obviously he has friends in the right places.

Now both of these guys careers have been more involved than my brief synopsis but I shall just close my comparison with a more personal opinion. Piers Morgan has the personality and charisma of a piece of cold, dead, fish laying on a market stall. His attempts at humour can be painful to watch and he is always getting it wrong. He does not have Simon's air of casual gracefulness or any charm at all. Simon these days can be enigmatic, friendly, encouraging, helpful, sophisticated and yet retain a boyish charm. Need I say more? I think not.
