Society today is fuelled by youth and beauty. Everyone from grandmas to teenagers want to look their best, and in the process go through gruelling rounds of cosmetic surgery and spend countless amounts of money on body perfection. Some people even become addicted to plastic surgery, and the shame is that it really just destroys them in the end; making them so unnatural and superficial that the media can now poke fun on them.
The world is getting more and more greedy for outer beauty, and body perfection. People who have more money than sense generally go in for large amounts of plastic surgery. Women go in for 'boob jobs' and men are even known to go in for plastic surgery.
The problem is the craze has also caught on to teenagers. Sixteen and seventeen year olds are now going for boob jobs, tummy tucks and nose jobs. The world is gone crazy for cosmetic surgery. Older women win over their insecurities by going for plastic surgery. They feel beautiful and more wanted. It makes them feel like they are in their twenties again, and have not gone through menopause. Some people also take huge loans and also re-mortgage their homes in order to go for plastic surgery. They take a huge risk , and are even prepared to suffer extreme pain in order to beautiful. There are also programs like extreme make-overs nowadays that encourage people to go for plastic surgery so that they will look more beautiful, and feel accepted by society.
Women need to feel happy with their bodies, and proportions. They need to realize that inner beauty is more important than outer beauty, and have good self-esteem. They need to dress well to suit the contours of their bodies, and not just run in for plastic surgery to make themselves feel better. Women need to feel more empowered, and realize that age is just a number. Women need to realize that beauty is a state of mind and not what a person sees on the outside. Plastic surgery is damaging the self- esteem of women. The only people who are really benefiting are the plastic surgeons, and private hospitals that perform these expensive and life threatening procedures. It is sad that this is what the world has come to. What will it be like in ten years time? Well, time will only tell. Women need to lead healthier lifestyles, and feel loved. They need to use common sense, and in my personal opinion plastic surgery should only be considered if one has severe facial or bodily dis-figuration from a bad car accident or burns.
